I relished the opportunity to delve into the hedge and begin drawing some charming backgrounds. They were drawn using pencil charcoal to give a heavy line that would match that of the characters. Elements of the cottage are from my family home in Somerset, another place that I could have easily based my Creative Histories project around.
Before I did these drawings I did test using simpler graphics and giving them motion through Adobe After Effects. Yet again they proved to look dead of life, something I think only a lot of practice would manage to remove. However, I just end up using the wave warp to great effect later, so this experiement was by no means wasted time.
